Monarchy New Zealand is pleased to welcome the birth of a daughter for Prince William and Catherine, born at 7.34pm and weighing 8lbs 3oz.
The baby was born at St Mary’s Hospital in London; the same hospital where her brother, Prince George, was born in 2013. Prince William was present to welcome the newest member of New Zealand’s royal family.
Monarchy New Zealand Chair Dr Sean Palmer is delighted to congratulate the Duke and Duchess on the birth of their daughter. “This newest member of our royal family will spend her whole life working for New Zealand and fifteen other countries. She may never be Queen of New Zealand but will serve countless good causes like her parents.”
The daughter is the second child born to the couple who married on 29 April 2011 and is fourth-in-line to the throne after her grandfather, Prince Charles, her father, Prince William, and her brother Prince George.
In keeping with Royal tradition, the birth announcement was placed on an easel at the gates of Buckingham Palace. In addition to the traditional method, the birth was also announced via social media platform Twitter.
